Sunday Date Day!

I finally got my gray manicure done!! I thought about buying the polish but I figured for trying it out, (check out my choices in my tumblr account) but decided it's better to have it done at a salon first. Yay! Unfortunately, since we were in a hurry to catch a movie, I failed to get the color of the polish I chose. I really liked it because it didn't look dirty nor like a dead nail, which was my worry before. I also opted not to get the ones with the glitters since I wanted something a little bit more low-key. So what do you think about the color? I'm thinking of a deep purple or magenta as my next nail color :)

So the movie we were hurrying to was actually The Last Airbender and I have to say that I really liked the film. Before the violent reactions, hear me out first. Honestly I am not a fan of the cartoon although I've seen a few episodes. I like the WII game though and that's what got me excited about the film. True to most reviews published about it, the script is really.. corny, but, come on it's a children's film!

Haha okay fine, I admit that M. Night Shyamalan is a LOUSY writer. He's always been criticized for it and I do not understand why he insists on writing for his movies. I think someone ought to ask him about that. There were also some awkward scenes and I thought Katara was a little bit annoying. Who the hell talks to someone who is meditating? I'm guessing that's Shyamalan's weak way of showing that when Aang is meditating, he becomes oblivious to the outside world. Silly and funny. There's also been a lot of complaints regarding the ethnicity of the characters used but I think, again, this is Shyamalan's lame attempt to differentiate the different tribes from each other.

Someone should teach him the art of subtlety, that is after all what a good director should be able to do right, convey the story without blatantly laying out all the facts of the plot to make it more interesting for the audience. That said,

Noah Ringer was awesome!!

I was really impressed with how he moved, the choreography, the direction and yes the visual effects were awesome! I've always said I'm a visual person and watching that scene where he was making water move and you see the drops of water in slow motion, mid-air. AMAZING! I loved it. I also liked the part when the earth benders suddenly decided to bend earth together as a group and it was funny but it really made me sit up straight to watch what they were going to do. I am a FAN OF THE FIGHT SCENES or any scene where there was bending involved. I did find it beautiful. The MUSIC also helped a lot to set the context of the story plus all the sound effects like water dropping or air swooshing. It gave you a better feeling of actually being part of the movie.

Was I the only one who thought that Noah Ringer, aka Aang, was perfect for the role?

I'm actually curious if they added prosthetics to his head to make it more circular. There was grace and strength to his movements. I have no background regarding the training he did for the film or the amount of visual effects incorporated in his fight scenes. All I know is, it's a visual feast and I almost felt like extending my arms in the movie house and bending.. popcorns?! Haha I'm excited for the next one. I just hope Shyamalan has better sense not to write the next film. :)

After the movie, we ate at Teriyaki Boy and I got the PHILLY CHEESE MAKI. Super YUM!! The cheese and the mayo were really good. We ordered the ramen too but it wasn't as satisfying because it was a little bit too oily. The gyoza was quite average. You have to be careful when eating it though cos when I bit into mine all the heat inside the gyoza burned my tongue!

I didn't take pictures of the other food we ordered cos I was so hungry already and the maki came first so, that's all the pic I have ;)
